What is a Digipak?

One of the ancillary tasks that is part of our media text is to create a digipak and this post breifly explains what a digipak is and its purpose.

A digipak is a type of CD box, which is essentially special editions and ten to be for re-released albums. They tend to be made of cardboard which is folded a number of times with CD case in the middle and it generally is has 4 or 6 panels.

The aim of the Digipak is to promote the artist and they are usually specifically made in order for fans to buy and usually contain additional content such as booklets or postcards this additional content and the innovative designs on the casing cause the artist/band's audience to want to buy this more so than an ordinary CD or download.
