In lesson today my group and I were given a random digipak from a band we did not know, we had to analyse this digipak in order to familiarise ourselves with them, making it easier to create our own.
When looking at the digipak specifically the front cover you would think that it would be from a soul/R&B artist. However, the name of the Band, the digipak and the style of the songs themselves completely change this view. The songs are form the alternative genre as their music is not something you hear within the more noticed genres of music. I think that they used this kind of image on their digipak as a way to challenge their own image as previous album covers tend not to focus on people, there are a few but they tend to have covers that have focuses elsewhere. Challenging their image will lead to a potential boost in an audience as its unique imagery may encourage people to buy this album out of curiosity as they will already know the band but with this different style they may presume that the music may also be different and would want to hear it.
